Almost There…

When I was five, we had theme nights at our church’s Wednesday night Children’s program (AWANA’s).  Everything from Crazy Hair Night to Pajama Night to dress up Chinese (I don’t know what that was actually called, or what the purpose was, but I remember the chopstick hair bun and the eyeliner).

Of course we had a Career Night as well, and almost every one of the girls in my class were dressed as teachers – fake or real glasses and carrying a stack of books.

I, on the other hand, was dressed for a very different career.  I was dressed as a Mom.   “Grown up” clothes, a purse over my shoulder, and a toy shopping cart full of Cabbage Patch Dolls.

Being a Mom has always been my dream job, and now that it is actually so close to becoming a reality, I can hardly believe it.

This is my last post during September, so the next post I write will be DURING OUR DUE DATE MONTH!  …of course, we understand that since my due date is so close to the end of the month, she could potentially come in November, but we’re hopeful…

This weekend we are having Maternity photos taken by a dear friend from church – and so excited just to have photos taken, since we haven’t had pictures taken together except for our wedding … whoops!  And then next weekend we have our last baby shower.  But other than that, we are really ready for this little girl to arrive, and the idea that it really could happen any time absolutely blows my mind.

Starting Monday I will be participating in the 31 Days Series and writing “31 Days of Building Community”.  But don’t worry, there will still be a few more baby updates and hopefully a birth announcement coming soon.  I may even sneak in a final post of the baby’s room.  And for more updates you can follow me on Twitter (I promise there will be no gross or TMI updates :-) ).

But as this month comes to a close, I just want to say that we are ready and waiting for this baby, and we are so thankful for all of the love, support and encouragement we have received from family, friends, our church and both of our offices, as well as those of you following on the blog.  A special thanks to those of you who have made comments like “You look amazing!” and “You’re nothing but baby!” ….keep ‘em coming!
