Day 7: Communicate Frequently

During the month of October I’m joining The Nester’s 31 Day Challenge and writing “31 Days to Building Community”.  I’m passionate about building relationships and growing in community together.  To see all the posts in the series click here.

Communication is extremely important in all relationships and, of course, is key to building community.  With the vast number of ways we can communicate today, we should take advantage of them to communicate frequently within our community.

It’s not enough to just see someone once a week at church, playgroup or library story time.  To really build relationships, we need to communicate as much as possible.  This can be as simple as a “How’re you doing this week” text, or a follow-up phone call on a particular situation, or even more involved by meeting a friend for coffee or getting your kids together to play for an afternoon.

We have SO many options for ways to communicate:

  • Face to face
  • Phone calls
  • Emails
  • Texts
  • Facebook
  • Twitter

Some of these can be more personal than others, but I really believe if you find a personal style of communication that works for you and your community you should take advantage of it and use it regularly!

How do you communicate with your community (friends, family, church, organizations) ??
