I don’t know if you know, but I LOVE to invite people over! Everything from a few friends to planning a party, I’m all about it!
On Friday’s I write a series I call “Invite People Over” (I know, genius name), with ideas, tips and tricks for inviting people into your home and into your life.
Gathering’s don’t always have to be formal affairs, but even for simple things, I think it’s good to have food for your guests. This is one of my *favorite* snacks – so easy to make and can last a while (unless your friends eat them all up, which they might!).
My friend, Cathy, made these in college, and once I tried them I HAD to know how to make them myself. They are now a staple in our family for vacations and road trips, and any other excuse we can find to make them.
It’s a super easy “recipe” that you can change up to fit your own taste.
What you’ll need:
Crackers (We literally go to the store and walk down the cracker aisle and pick out a few boxes of any kind of cracker. And we usually try to throw in one we’ve never tried before. So use whatever crackers you like! My favorites are Wheat Thins, Veggie Crackers and “Chicken in a biskit”)
Vegetable Oil
Ranch dressing mix (MIX, like the powder stuff – buy more than a packet if you plan to make a large batch, I buy the canister so I pour in as much as I like)
Dill Weed
What to do:
Pour all the crackers into a large bowl or container (whatever will hold them all – if you’re making a large batch, sometimes I divide them between a few containers. Just make sure to put some of each cracker in each container)
Drizzle with oil so all the crackers are lightly coated – this is easiest to do by mixing them all around with your hand.
sprinkle Ranch Dressing MIX and Dill weed and mix to (sort of) evenly coat the crackers. You may need to keep adding ranch dressing mix and dill week until you get just the right taste.
That’s it!
I like to divide the mix up into large zip lock bags so it’s easy to take with me, but you can pour it in a cute bowl for your guests.
My biggest problem is keeping people from eating too much before I can wash the oil/dressing mix/dill weed off my hands….
