Yesterday, I had lunch with an elderly lady that is a fixture at the church where I work. She wanted to have lunch and get to know me, since she says she takes all the new staff members out to lunch and she was just getting around to me (I’ve been here almost two and a half years:-)).
But during our conversation, she said something that really struck me, even though I’ve thought it before, it was such a great reminder.
She is in the process of writing a book – her life story. When I asked her what kind of stories it had from her life this is what she told me.
She said she started out by calling it “My Story” to write down memories and important things from her life to leave for her kids and others to remember. But then she said she realized that it’s not really her story, it’s just about God’s glory. Because everything that has happened in her life is to point to God and to give Him glory. So she can’t just write it anymore and call it her own story, but His.
She went on to encourage me to write down my own stories as I go along in life so I’m not having to try and remember them later. I wasn’t sure if she knew what a blog was, so I just said that I am definitely trying to write things down along the way.
But isn’t that really the point of writing these blogs we call “Our Stories”? Yes, to remember our lives and to share with our future generations, but more importantly to share the stories of what God is doing and has done in our lives.
I hope that this blog will always be a reflection of His glory and for His names’ sake – and not my own.

Hannah, I just mentioned this to someone today that when blogging for Christ we are definitely telling His story. Thanks for sharing this, I love receiving tidbits of confirmation from God like this:) I’m stopping by from the ND Mentorship group, trying to make my way around and check out everyone’s blog. Can’t wait to interact with you during the group sessions. Have a blessed weekend:)
